A 3:00 a.m. traffic stop led to two arrests for Driving Under The Influence and Child Abuse and Neglect. The Ocala Star Banner first reported the story of the parents who were driving around very early Thursday morning with their baby in the backset, not restrained, while allegedly under the influence of alcohol. The young boy was uninjured but both the mother and father were arrested for DUI on top of the child abuse charges.
The young boy’s 25-year-old father and 20-year-old mother remained in Marion County jail as the child was released to his great-grandmother. Sheriff’s deputies pulled the couple over for driving erratically at a high rate of speed according to police reports. Jeremy Bryant had a blood-alcohol level at or below the legal limit but admitted to drinking and smoking crack cocaine that day. The couple had already been cited earlier that day for an open container violation and for having no driver license.
